Isaac Sussman, Psychotherapist
Isaac Sussman

My primary intention is to help clients increase awareness of themselves in the present moment in order to facilitate the unleashing of innate potential. This often involves the exploration of disavowed parts of the self with the aim of integration and a sense of wholeness as a person. My underlying belief is that clients can become more accepting of themselves and thus more able to direct their own lives in the context of an empathic relationship that provides the space for them to develop naturally and at their own pace. I see my role as a combination of fellow traveler and facilitator. While the former depicts the process of therapy as a shared journey, the latter acknowledges that the destination is ultimately determined by the individual seeking help. It seems to me that the most significant and profound therapeutic experience is the felt sense that it is fine to be exactly who you are.

SERVICES

Focus
I focus on the present moment, exploring the past as it relates to present unconscious meanings. I treat clients as masters of their subjective world, helping them accept what is universal while developing as an individual. Ultimately, healing happens in relationship. Therapy can help people reach a greater level of self-awareness, acceptance, and confidence and provide an empathic relationship within which to experience all aspects of oneself. Personal change paradoxically comes about through acceptance of oneself just as one is. I aim to provide unconditional acceptance, the basis of change.
