Jill V. Denton, LMFT
Since 1978 I've been helping people repair and strengthen their relationships. My extensive experience, with training from such experts as John Gottman, David Schnarch, and Patrick Carnes has given me a wide variety of tools and insights that can often help people change quite rapidly.
I love working with couples-of course it always takes two to tango and each partner's past experience significantly influences what happens day to day in the here and now. So I often work individually with one or both partner in order to help heal past trauma which is getting in the way.
One of the techniques I use with individuals is EMDR which can bring very rapid change and healing. It's never easy to talk about intimacy and desire, and I've come to appreciate the tremendous importance of sexuality, both as an expression of relationship and as reflection of it.Consequently I have extensive post graduate training and certification in sex therapy through San Francisco Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality. This enables me to help men and women with all kinds of sexual probelms, including different levels of desire.
Many individuals I work with now have difficulties in addiction to online pornography or other forms of sexual compulsivity. In 1999 I was one of the first 50 therapists nationwide to be certified by the Arizona Institue for Trauma and Addiction Professionals as a Sex Addiction Therapist (CSAT). This means I can help people with sexual compulsivity problems such as infidelity or addiction to internet porn. I also help spouses, family members, and people who care about the addict.
