EMDR is a specific psychotheraputic approach for treating trauma. Traumatic events differ in degree of severity and can take on many different forms. Subjective severity is determined by the meaning an adult or child attaches to it. Traumatic events in ones life can be expressed as a biological stress response. There is a point for each of us at which anxiety and fear cross the imaginary line into trauma. More negative effects result from early childhood severe and prolonged trauma, emotional abuse and relationship trauma, adultery, betrayal, abandonment, divorce, sexual abuse, physical abuse and incest all may lead to depression and a condition known as PTSD, Post Traumatic Stress Disorder.
I am a psychoanalytic psychotherapist specializing in PTSD and depression. I approach my work empathetically building an alliance of understanding with my client considering each individual as unique with respect for the importance of the unconscious and making it conscious for the innate and autonomous capacities of the individual. Treatment involves working with individuals within the context of their experiences and circumstances. My aim with the treatment of psychotherapy and EMDR is to achieve the most comprehensive effects in the shortest period of time maintaining client stability within their structure.
