Dr Kim Copeland
Dr. Kim Copeland, Ph.D

I work primarily with adults and adolescents who are having trouble negotiating difficult life stages. I treat both short-term, acute problems and more pervasive, long-standing problems. My years of training, first in CBT, and later in psychodynamic and psychoanalytic approaches allow me to use both in my practice. The client and I decide on treatment approaches based on his or her strengths and preferences.

My graduate program and research experience are Cognitive Behavioral in theoretical orientation. After graduate school, I completed a 2-year clinical post-doctoral fellowship at the Menninger Clinic in Topeka, KS (psychodynamic theoretical orientation). I completed psychoanalytic training at the Center for Psychoanalytic Studies in Houston, and I am now a faculty member there.
People tell me that I'm easy to talk to. And I've lived in Houston for quite awhile; I went to Bellaire High School and Rice University.
